I read Goodnight Moon and Moo Baa La La LA to my daughter--over and over! My son gets The Big Red Barn, also by Margaret Wise Brown. There was a point with both of them where they weren't very interested in me reading to them--around the 12 month mark--they wanted to MOVE and that was all! My Son, at 18 months, is just getting to where he'll sit still again--but only at bedtime--the rest of the day don't even try it! :)

Jennifer
MonsterBug Blankets

Moo Baa La La La and Goodnight Moon are childhood staples. They are both on the book table of my youngest boy, the 3 year old. The original copies of the first two boys, 19 and 9, ended up worn out and unsalvageable.

Love the new ideas for reading material. Currently there are two little ones in the Mixed Species posse. Oliver McSpecies is 2 and a half years old and Isaac McSpecies is six months old. They both work their daddies like puppets!

30 min mommy - I don't think I could ever give up cheese! That belly button book is super cute, I need to get it for little H.

Meno - I know several of the books by heart and little H looks at me like I'm a nut if I recite one.

Charles - I can't wait for that!

Crag - My mom saved all the Seuss books I had as a kid and now little H has them. I'm really looking forward to reading them to her.

Hand hand fingers thumb, dum ditty dum ditty dum ditty d--oops, sorry, I had a Seuss flashback there.

The best thing about having eight nephews and nieces has been reading Seuss again. The real Seuss, not these silly things they stick the Seuss name on now. Accept no substitutes!

I still remember (and have somewhere safe, I'm sure) a flipbook with a goodnight alphabet of animals, adult and babies for capitals and lowercase. On the other side was a baby rabbit who kept seeing things that scared him, and his mother would tell him what they were, like his toes at the bottom of the bed or the branch tapping on the window.

And I even remember my first book. It was one of those cardboard cut-outs in the shape of a rabbit. Mum used to read that one to me constantly. Keep reading to little H, it works!

although it was fun seeing something of my own behavior in my son, I think some of my greatest joys came when he showed something completely independent, not like his mother or like me.

Right now I am reading Eliza Goodnight Gorilla, Goodnight Moon, and Where is Baby's Belly Button. She is 6 months old and really can't sit for that long. I try to read her one book before each nap. I love reading and hope she does too!

I adored cheese but have not had any since I went Vegan. It was very difficult to give up.
