Good for you for submitting to the book. Next time!
well… it only means that you are indeed a writer.
It wasn’t a *sigh*, it was just you catching your next wind, right?
Yes, maybe next time for sure! The more you submit the better the chance of your work being included/published. Relax with your favorite hot beverage today, sigh a little more, watch a sitcom then get back to work!
Have a great day.
BTW: Sorry your work wasn’t included… I know exactly how that feels. Smooches!
I submitted to that series once upon a time. I don’t think my rejection was quite so nice.
Try not to get discouraged. My first book was rejected 15 times. Then publishers 16 and 17 wanted it. And once I got over that hurdle it got a lot easier. But getting over that hurdle was sooooo frustrating.
I also have to tell you this: I once got the meanest letter imaginable from an editor very early on in my career, basically telling me I had no talent. (Well, I had enough talent to write for certain types of publications, she said, but not enough talent to write for serious publications.) At first I was crushed. (Okay, devastated.) But then I decided to prove her wrong by working extra hard to get published in publications I considered worth writing for. Her lack of faith in me actually motivated me in some strange way.
So don’t let this letter dim your spark. I think we sometimes read too much into these crazy (crazy-making) letters from editors.
thanks to everyone…really, I’ve gotten a lot of rejection letters before and they don’t usually bother me.
The difference with this one, is that they came upon my blog and invited me to submit. Then I received the copyright paperwork which was a step closer so I had high hopes that this one would make it. Ugh.
So yes, mannequin – I am catching my next wind and I will keep on plugging.
thanks again guys!! Love ya!
As rejections go, that’s a really nice one! I know it’s a bummer to get soooo close and then just miss it, though.
I’m sorry.
Definitely next time.
It takes a lot of courage to submit something to start so a huge congratuations on that! Keep at it, it will come!
Hmmm. I thought the letter sounded nice, however if I received 15, they may not be as welcomed. I’m not a writer, but I am an artist. What we create ‘is’ our hearts and passionate souls, when we take a hit…it sure does hurt. But I also I think being creative brings that passion, but also perseverance, which makes us try 15 times! All part of the creative process…
Good Luck in future submissions.
