I’ve always been scared to write fiction, much less flash fiction. Although I did have good success with a story I wrote about an interview I had with a dog. I loved writing it and it helped me stretch my wings a bit. But I still always fall back to what I think I do best, non-fiction. Great tips here!

Cheryl – if you incite a riot with your prose, then incorrect or correct – your words had power. Don’t shut that power down before it gets going. Show yourself what you’ve got!

Petula – You have a very concise way to your writing. Blogging in a sense is flash, just of the non-fiction variety. I think you’d do very well with the form

I’ve never tried flash fiction. It would be interesting to give it a go. If I have an idea I’ll be sure to write it down.

Oh Heather…I was so excited that I had to comment. I looked over this briefly and am excited to get those stupid dishes washed and get back over here to read more thoroughly.

See. That’s just it. The worst that can happen with 1,000 words. Words can be lethal and I imagine that wars have begun with far less than a thousand.
If I incite a riot with my prose, if I cause a stirring inside, it is because I have chosen the correct words. Or the incorrect words.
