My Uncle on my Mother’s side told me that’s where smurfs lived. At 5 years old I stood inside the tree, searching for the tiny blue characters but only saw beetles and moss.
Later, I revisited this tree as a grown woman, with my husband. This was before we had little H. I still looked for smurfs even though I knew it was just a silly TV show from my childhood. This photo was taken at Cathedral Grove on Vancouver Island, British Columbia, Canada. That’s hubby standing inside it. He’s 6 feet tall.
This post is part of my participation in MomDot’s PR Blackout week. I’ll be posting about all things “In The Dark.” I hope you’ll also turn inward. To think about your voice. To think about your goals and to pull it all together for a week of unique content. If you do, please share your posts in the linky widget located here.

Oh, but it’s true! They do live there, along with those cookie-making elves. You just didn’t look carefully enough.
I would love to sleep in a tree like that during a rainstorm.
I lived in Victoria for a few years and drove up to Cathederal Grove a couple of times. What an amazing place. I didn’t think to look for smurfs but it certainly does seem like the kind of place where mythical creatures might live!
