The ladybugs have been coming inside. It’s a sure sign that summer is over and winter is about to arrive. The tiny beetles I’ve seen crawling across the table or climbing up the wall are a darker orange than the one pictured here and they are innocently looking for a place to hide from the cold and the frost that has started to kiss the mornings here in Calgary. Curious, I did a bit of Google research as I was wondering about the lifespan of these wee bugs. Most sites reported that they lived an astonishing 1-3 years but there were a few which listed their lifespan at a mere 6 weeks. An odd range if you ask me. Their retreat to the indoors each fall leads me to believe that they do live longer than 6 weeks but my point here is only that summer is over. Winter is just around the corner and for me, it’s invoking a serene and cozy feeling. One of sweaters and crunching leaves and stews and snow.
Very soon, we plan on re-decorating little H’s bedroom, as she is quickly outgrowing her crib. I’m looking forward to creating a space for her to grow into. So this week, I’m thinking of all things cozy and warm. Of things that mean home and cuddles and comfort. And the ladybug motif just might make an appearance in my plans. I’m not sure yet what the end result will be, but the thought of putting it all together sure has my creative pistons firing!

Love the ladybugs! Can’t wait to see your decorating pictures
I do miss the cold this time of year. Though I have to admit I did enjoy sitting out in the hot sun sketching dragonflies today.
I really love ladybugs. That’s one of the nicknames I gave my youngest. There haven’t been any coming inside here yet although the temperature dramatically dropped overnight from about 80 something yesterday to 50 something today.
