I have major big news. Like HUGE news. (are you sensing my tone of false drama here? I hope so) Our dear Little H has done it. She pooped in the potty! I always knew in my heart that we would get to this milestone someday. But we were all a little surprised when she actually did it. She’s such a smart kid and she’s understood the concept for months. But she’s also a super stubborn kid and if she doesn’t want to do something – she ain’t doing it.

I’ve tried to just leave it be and not make a bit deal out of any of it. Most of the time she’s worn diapers around the house and has removed it on her own to go #1 in the potty as she felt like it. But she’s resisted going #2.

Every night before bed I read her The New Potty by Mercer Mayer – it’s been her favorite potty training book by far.  She demands I read it to her.

And all that reading must have sunk in.  She doesn’t want to be the baby in diapers any more she wants to be the big kid.

I’m thrilled.  And how is this story supposed to inspire creativity?  Well, it’s occurred to me that even when it felt like nothing was happening.  Even when it felt like I was reading the same book over and over and over with no result.  Something was happening.  Every little bit helped.  And bit by bit she was making up her mind, finding the courage and striving for the next level even if we were all unaware of it.  So if you are feeling like you’re not making progress or like you’re stuck in a rut don’t fret.    Just keep doing something no matter how slow going the journey might be because sooner or later you’ll get there and everything you do now is leading up to it.

What’s inspiring you this week? Share!
