we're looking at the end

I was reading through my archives this weekend and it became *smack in the head* apparent my best posts are the ones I’ve written about life.  About the love I have for my dear little H.  About enjoying the little things.  About me.

Sure, I’ve enjoyed interviewing creative moms.  And I’ve loved sharing their work with you.

But I need to focus inward now and spend my energy on my own projects.

I will not stop blogging, however, Maternal Spark is going to change. The url maternalspark.com will stay active for a long time so you can still use it to make your way here. I will also be using a new url starting soon and that will be HometoHeather.com.

I don’t know how often I’ll post here – likely several times a week but I’m not going to sweat it anymore if I go two weeks without posting. I’ll only write when I really have something to say.

No more giveaways.

No more chasing people for their interview answers.

No more hustling for others.

It’s me time.

If you’re a writer with work published here and you have concerns please email me and we’ll work it out.

If you’re a current subscriber (I love you, that kissy face up there is coming your way! ) you don’t need to do anything. You’ll start to receive new content as soon as I start producing it.

Stay tuned. The graphical makeover will be happening soon.

  1. Amen, sister!! I just did the very same thing. I quit my parenting blog and revived my personal blog. I love not having pressure to write posts on a timetable, track down advertisers, always needing to promote my “brand.” I changed my Twitter name too. I am enjoying blogging again.

Congratulations! I am sure it was a hard decision. One I am sure you will be pleased with! :)

    Brava!!!

I often wondered how/why you ladies work so hard out there, and still have time to breathe. I couldn’t do it. Hence my absence from Twitter, etc.

I wish you every success in this new direction!!

Don’t think I haven’t noticed your absence from twitter…I hope you’re writing your face of instead :)

Editing … and had 3 agents express interest while I was away the last 2 weeks (beaching it in the Dominican Republic)!

I’m feeling like I want to go back to my chicklit book now, which is soooo much easier on my brain than this one.

Let me know if you ever want me to email you my book.

It’s good to change it up a bit. We moms need to make sure that we take care of ourselves and not overextend our limits.

    Congrats!

Thanks George! The fact that you survived gives me hope ;) But it’s going to be a lot of work now. Oh well, I always like a challenge!

  5. Petula says:

Bravo! I am proud of you. It takes a lot of guts to do something like that. I sometimes feel the same way, which is why my blog is often very random then structured then back to random again. I guess it’s why it’s called It’s a woman’s world. LOL… It’s my prerogative to change my mind. I’m looking forward to whatever you write/work on. You’re a fabulous writer and the maternal spark is there in everything that you do. I think in order to survive we often have to take a different road or a detour. You know, follow our hearts. We Virgos are the type that work better when we are truly doing what we find satisfying, rewarding, fun and worth it for ourselves and others.

Well, I’ve rambled enough. I am sure what you’re doing is the right thing and although I will miss my regular emails saying you’ve posted something now I know I have something more to look forward to. Rock on!

Thanks Petula! Yes, you are right about us Virgos and it’s time for me to have a little fun. I have always admired your ability to post to your hearts desire and hope to do the same. And thank you for such kind words!

smooches Heather. Ya know, I’m in the process of the same thing (except mine is including a long hiatus). I do not need the hassle or deadlines and need the freedom to talk about whatever I want to talk about.
