Day out with Thomas at Heritage Park
I can’t tell you how excited I am to be going to this family friendly event with Little H and the hubs! Thomas the Tank Engine has been a huge hit in our house ever since Little H was old enough to say “toot toot!” She knows all the engines by color and number, in fact, that’s one of the first ways we introduced her to numbers. Being able to put a name with each one helped her to remember what the numbers were called. She is going to flip out when she sees her favorite #1 engine in real life!
Yes, real life. Heritage Park is actually bringing in a full sized Thomas the Tank Engine and attaching it to the front of their authentic, working steam engine. The kids get to ride around the park on it! I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she realizes what’s happening. It’s going to blow her mind and I’m sure she’ll talk about it for weeks afterward.
From the press release:
The tour provides a unique, interactive family experience at every station, offering a variety of entertaining activities that reflect the local flavor of each stop. At Heritage Park Historical Village activities will include: face painting, wagon rides, antique midway, Garden Gauge railway layout and large and small walk through mazes.
The approximately 20-minute train ride with Thomas the Tank Engine will depart every 40 minutes, rain or shine, with departure times at 9:00am through 4:20pm daily. Tickets for the Day Out With Thomas: The Celebration Tour 2010 are $21.
If you want to go, I’m told tickets sell out every year so don’t wait. Tickets are on sale now by calling toll-free 1-888-222-6608 or logging onto www.ticketweb.ca. There’s tons of parking (free!) and it’s pretty easy to get there.
I’ll be writing again after we attend so stay tuned for details on how it went. I’m really looking forward to getting some fun pictures and maybe a video or two. Is it wrong that I’m so excited? Hey, just because I’m over 30 doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a train ride does it? Little H doesn’t know yet, we’re going to surprise her…besides, if we tell her ahead of time, she won’t nap again…ever, in anticipation of it all!
*Heritage Park has provided us with tickets, but not my opinions…those belong to me!
