We went to Heritage Park Calgary today for our Ride on Thomas the Train! This was really one of the best days we’ve had at a ‘kids’ event here in Calgary. We didn’t tell her where we were going, just that it was for a special day. We parked the car and started walking down the path towards the park and she saw him. “I see a Thomas the Train!” she yelled. She really was blown away and VERY excited. It was quite a special thing to see. There was so much to do there besides the train ride too. She met ‘Sir Topham Hatt’, got her face painted, listened to Thomas story time and never tired of watching Thomas ride around the track. I snagged a couple videos because it’s hard to convey how into this she really was. Have a watch?
We will defiantly go back to Heritage Park Calgary later this summer when all the exhibits are open. I know she’ll love the petting zoo and the antique midway which we didn’t hit up today because there was just so much other stuff to do. Thank you to Heritage Park Calgary for arranging this day for us and I have to say how impressed I was with the number of staff on site. There were clear markings for lost child areas and you never had to look for someone to answer a question. Well done guys!
Event Info: Pre-sale tickets are sold out. Limited walk up tickets for train ride available at the gate. Tickets available at the gate for Day Out With Thomas™ activities, excluding train ride, $15 + GST.
*Tickets to this event were provided by Heritage Park however, they did not provide my opinions. Those belong to me baby!

that’s what I really love about our Heritage Park. It’s so spread out that even when there’s a 1000 people there it doesn’t feel crowded. You should really go, it was a blast!

Thomas was just in our area too. We went to Greenfield Village here in Michigan while he was visiting, however we didn’t ride Thomas. They charge way too much for it for us to go for a ride.

The funny thing is, I think she had more fun just watching him go around the track than actually riding on the train. I’m sure your kids had fun waiting for him to ‘toot toot’ too
Yes, my son loved it! No matter where we were in the village and Thomas came by, we went running towards the tracks to get pictures and wave!

I’m so excited to find this post detailing your visit. We have tickets for this Saturday at Heritage Park. My 4 year old grandson eats, breathes and sleeps Thomas.
I was wondering if you also have to pay for admission to the park on top of your Day Out tickets and is there anything else open? The bakery for instance?
Our tickets included admission to the park, our train ride, the event tents (face painting, story etc) and I think the horse/buggy ride but we didn’t do that. Yes, the bakery, candy store and ice cream store were open as were the restaurants and midway. Not all the exhibits were open, many of the farm animals weren’t there but there was so much to do we didn’t hit it all anyway. Have fun, I’m jealous and would love to go again!!
looks like you had a blast. our boys loved the day out with thomas
