My dear little H has turned FOUR. I don’t know how this is possible. It’s cliche to say they grow up so fast but boy is it ever true! We had a super nice little party for her with a couple kids and some family. I’m clinging to the ‘simple’ parties as long as we can because sooner or later she’s going to want to invite her entire class or something crazy like that.
This year, instead of a Thomas the Train Cake disaster, we had a fabulous Tinkerbell Cake and yes…I made it and yes…I made the fondant too! Gee, looks like I might get a handle on this mom thing after all!
I never in a million years thought I could do fondant and then Rhea and Kathleen got all inspiring with their Sonic / Mario Fondant cake and a Red Hat Society Fondant Cake so I decided to give it a try.
Here are the photos. It looked much better in person – the photo really shows the imperfections but they weren’t that noticeable in person. I must have shot at a bad angle or something.
I used marshmallow fondant to make the grass, froggie and pond and then the pink icing is buttercream. It was fairly easy to work with but I wish I’d given myself more time – I ended up finishing about a half hour before her party started. Little H was pretty happy with it and it tasted great too.
