With Every Up Side…there is a Down Side

Living in Calgary means we are surrounded with entertainment the likes of which can’t always be found in small towns.  The city wide Canada Day celebrations offered up free petting zoos, pony rides, music, entertainment and much more.  Yes, that’s the upside.  The downside is -

The line for the petting zoo at Fort Calgary was equally as long as were the lines for hotdogs and portajohns.  What’s Canada Day with out the very Canadian act of waiting in line?  Right?  Thankfully, Little H was oblivious to it all – a side effect of her floppy hat. She felt the music was much too loud so she was happy to take a walk around in the field while waving her little paper flag and then go home.  We did enjoy the singing of ‘Oh Canada’ and the raising of the flag in the East Village and really, that was the most important part.  Next year, I’m driving out to one of the smaller surrounding towns to enjoy Canada Day with less crowding!

  1. That’s hilarious!!

  2. I don’t blame you. Thankfully I’m allergic to horses, so I can get out of the pony rides if the line is too long.

  3. Best. Picture. Of. The. Day.

    thats hysterical.

  4. I hope it’s a long pony ride

  5. I hope it’s a long pony ride

  6. lol… i can remember back when my kids were oblivious!

now they notice every little thing going on, and have super-human hearing (except when i’m calling them)

  7. Wow, that is insane. With a line like that, I would have strapped a saddle on my back and given the kids rides just to get out of it. lol. Hope you all were able to have a great time though.

  8. You are more than welcome to come to DeWinton Station next Canada Day, Heather! Just south of Calgary City Limits.
