Thrift Store Furniture Makeovers

The Painted Oak Table
This oak table I picked up second hand has easily been my most successful furniture makeover to date. I paid $50 for the table and 4 chairs and about $75 on paint and materials. My family used this set for about 5 years and when it came time to move and I realized it wasn’t going to work in our new space, I sold the table and 2 chairs (keeping 2 as extra seating for ourselves) for $50, re-cooping my initial cost! See the painted dining table before and after and get ideas for your own thrift store furniture project. I share the materials I used and some tips and tricks for making your finish last.
The Double Flip Oak Dining Chairs
These chairs went through not one, but two makeovers in my care! I really loved them and even though they were thrift store shabby when I got them, they were worth the effort because I loved the size and shape of them. You can see round one of the chair makeover there and if you’d like to see where I took them after that you can see how they looked with chalk paint and custom upholstery.

DIY Projects with Wood

A thrift store thingamajig piece come to life
When I found the wood tennis racket thingamajig and a pool ball rack whatsit at the thrift shop I knew I wanted to do something with them, I just wasn’t sure what. The result was a DIY we still use to this day and it is a showcase piece in my houseplant corner. See how I put this DIY project with wood bits together.
A Faux Mantel for the Porch
I LOVED this project so so much. It was so beautiful on our front porch in our Northern home. Decorating a mantel for the seasons is always a fun experience so why not bring that outside too? It was the perfect spot to burn our citronella candles while we watched the world go by from our chairs. I do miss that covered porch. When we moved, we had nowhere for this piece to live in the new home so it went on marketplace and was swooped up fast. You should make one if you have a porch that leaves you wanting. See how I made this front porch decor idea come to life.

DIY projects for Home Decor

A Secondhand Table Makeover
Putting this page together has made me realize that I say every project is my favourite. But this one? This is actually my favourite. This thrift store furniture makeover was so inexpensive and it’s so simple and timeless that it has been in our home ever since and I see no need to change it or replace it anytime soon. I still can’t believe I scored this for only $10!
