I called this crochet dishcloth pattern ‘Twist of Lemon’ as I had originally sat down to crochet the lemon peel stitch for a dishcloth. My mind wandered and instead of following the pattern, I began crocheting hdc stitches! Well, as you may know, the lemon peel stitch doesn’t use hdc and I’d completed a few rows before I’d realized my error, so I kept on going. As it happened, I liked the result and I hope you will too!
An hdc is my favourite stitch – I’m not sure why but I really enjoy it. It’s nice to have a crochet dishcloth pattern in the repertoire that uses it. This is a beginner pattern and is quick and easy to whip up without much counting. You’ll memorize it easily and have a stack of nice new dishcloths in no time.
The samples shown were made with 100% cotton Bernat Handicrafter (affiliate link) yarn in both pink and yellow.
You will need:
- 100% cotton yarn of your choice
- 5 mm hook
- Darning needle
- Scissors

Hey Heather, I wanted to check out the free download for the dishcloth pattern. I logged in but it says no downloads are available. Is the dishcloth no longer available? I think it’s very similar to the one I already do but wanted to ch3ck it out.
Sorry for the late replay here Jan! I uploaded a new file with a few extra photos included. So, if you have previously downloaded it, it won’t be in your profile. You’ll have to download the newer version. Hope that helps!
